The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Business Roundtable Discussion was held in New Delhi July 16 under the patronage of Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunnetti, and with the participation of the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The delegation had the opportunity to engage in a fruitful exchange of views with the Indian business community on investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this meeting, which was attended by FICCI President Devin Narang and representatives of several leading Indian companies, extensive discussions were held on the sectors in which they can invest in Sri Lanka and their existing potential. Addressing the Indian business community, Minister Handunnetti apprised them of the political stability that has now been established in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also pointed out that corruption is rapidly declining in the country, which has led to the creation of a transparent and secure investment environment. Furthermore, the Minister explained the investment-friendly environment that the current new government has created for local and foreign businessmen and investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In particular, he pointed out that the time taken to start a business has now been significantly reduced, explaining that the government has created the necessary environment for investors to easily start their activities. This discussion was very helpful in providing Indian investors with a clear understanding of the current situation in Sri Lanka and the new policies of the government, and it is expected that it will be a fundamental foundation for attracting future investments to the country.
