The Sri Lanka FinTech Festival 2026 commenced in Colombo with a special gathering of business leaders and industry stakeholders, highlighting the importance of public-private sector collaboration in advancing the country’s digital financial ecosystem.
The ‘CEOs Night’, organised as part of the two-day festival on Monday (02), was held under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne. The event was organised by the Sri Lanka FinTech Forum in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy, with support from Visa.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Minister Weeraratne stressed the need for closer collaboration between the public and private sectors to shape the future of digital finance in Sri Lanka. He outlined the Government’s priorities, including strengthening Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), encouraging financial technology innovation and enhancing the country’s attractiveness through a secure and efficient digital payment ecosystem.
Adding an international perspective to the discussions, Neal Cross, Co-founder of PictureWealth and former Chief Innovation Officer of Singapore’s DBS Bank, delivered a keynote address on the ‘Future of Banking’. The keynote was followed by a panel discussion featuring leading Chief Executive Officers, focusing on developments and opportunities in the financial technology sector.
