The proposal to issue digital driving licenses has been authorized by Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of Ministers, according to Ministers of Media and Health Nalinda Jayatissa.
In order to improve data sharing amongst connected agencies, Jayatissa informed reporters, “the government has recognized the requirement of issuing a digital driver’s license, which is currently used in many countries of the world, with new technology.”
There have been numerous abnormalities observed in the granting of driver’s licenses, according to Jayatissa.
“The current processes for issuing driving licenses will be followed until a new digital driving license is introduced in place of the currently used driving license,” he stated.
